Weekly Photo Challenge: Near and Far

I’ve got plenty of photos of wide open scenery taken in the Western U.S., but I like this one since it kind of looks like an end of Summer photo.  That’s my son’s truck on a Martha’s Vineyard beach as the near part, and of course the Atlantic as the far.

Ok, so there’s two this week.  This one is one of the “Out West” photos, taken in Santa Fe, Christmas Day 2011, with the mountain and clouds being far.  I believe that’s Taos Mountain, part of the Sangre De Christo range.

On top of the adobe wall are paper bags with candles inside, lighted during the holiday season.  A Southwest tradition, I have plenty of out of focus pictures of them lit up at night!

  1. Love that second one. I used to have this weird obsession with Santa Fe (without having ever gone or having any kind of rationale for it), but for some reason, snow never occurred to me. I’ll get there one day! Great shot!

It seems as though most people don’t think of snow when they think of Santa Fe. Winter is a great time to go, it’s not too cold, the scenery and food are great, and it’s not too crowded.
