I ask since my grandfather made all kinda of lists but none were kept. I guess my Mom didn't see the value of keeping grocery lists for such things as liver, onions, Moxie, Clamato juice, and sour lemon hard candy!

Living in San Diego, I wouldn't give you any advice on what to plant in your neck of the woods... All I can say is, your grass looks very green! Lucky you if honeysuckle is growing, it smells delicious. It grows like weeds here and is very invasive but I don't care. I love walking by it when it blooms.

The great thing about the 101 in 1001 days is that I could give myself up to 1001 days to get something done. Will I get everything on my list done? Probably not, but pretty close. And I still want to get those things done eventually. I modified my list as I went along too, as my focus changed over the months and years (the challenge is 2 and 1/2 years long).

But overall, I have to say that yes, making a list does help me get things done. When I don't have a daily list in front of me, I'm quite unproductive. When I make a list, I usually get most of it done, if not all. It really helps bring focus to my daily routine, especially since I have so little free time. I'm reading The Power of Habit and one interesting chapter describes research showing that people who wrote their goals down got them done more often than people who didn't. It's a question of literally "putting it on paper" for you to see.

If you want to be successful at your list, you'll have to prioritize it, so it doesn't look overwhelming. Use completion dates, or months you want these done. Make weekly and daily lists out of them. As you cross things off, you'll feel really good and motivated to continue. Try it, I bet you'll like it!

P.S.: sorry for the long response... Hey, I could have used bullet points to list my comments!

I think it can help to make a list, but also to try not to hold it against yourself for not getting everything done. The older I get, the more time seems to pass by faster, so I'd like to try to get more done while still expecting that I'll probably not get to all of the items on the list.

I should say that it's a family list, so it may sound like a lot, but there's some things on there that are meant to be done by all or us or just Ms. J. Even still, we've gone over 100 in the past few days with no end in sight!

Did you find that making your list helped in getting things done ? It seems as though the days just fly by, especially when taking care of kids.
